Happy New Year. This brand new years starts with what hopes to be a great lineup of events and activities and information in the coming months. First, the presentation for January will be on Low-Flow Irrigation for Ornamental Gardens. Just what you need to start thinking about for your Spring cleanup and planting. Then, check out the list of articles to come in the next few months of the Splash newsletter. And don't forget to see what you missed at this years Christmas party, with a small collection of snapshots at the festivities.

Well, we're now well into the beginning of the year and have much to plan for. We need volunteers for all our activities, including this years Pond Tour. Check out our latest participation at the Santa Clara Home & Garden Show. Also, read about upgrading your Kit Pond in this month's issue. Presentation for February will be by Larry Templeton and Ken Snarr on the upgrade to Larry's pond.

With two Home and Garden shows behind us, we now look towards other activities in the year. We are, as always, in need of more volunteers, so please be there for your club. This months newsletter includes a statement of club activities by Terry Denevan, and some information on how to avoid accidently killing all your Koi or goldfish. This months presentation will be great for those new to the Koi hobby, or for those wanting to brush up on your Koi knowledge. Mike Perret will discuss how to identify the different varieties, along with how to pick that winning Koi.

April 08

4 Months into the new year and we've lost our president, so now it is time for some lucky club member to step up and do their duty. Volunteers needed for President, Secretary, and Program Director. This month's newsletter also has articles to help get your pond ready for the summer season, including how to change your UV sterilizer bulbs, a short list of items for the pondkeepers toolkit, and one person's answer to building a proper pond water keepfull device. Summer is coming. Now is the time to learn more about the craft of Pond Keeping and Building. This month's newsletter gives some background into the components of pond plumbing, specifically the various valves used. Also, an explanation of gravity pre-filters and some of the advantages of this type of system. Finally, a few do's and don'ts in working with pond plumbing. This month's meeting will see a presentation on the esthetics of pond design.

One month to the 2008 Pond Tour and everyone is making preparations. In the meantime, will be able to enjoy steaming hot dogs at the June meeting while watching a video on Koi Shoping in Japan. If you've ever wondered what it is like to buy Koi in Japan, this is your chance to get a close up view of the process. Also, we'll be having a great Pond Social at the home of Louisa and Charles Lim in the Almaden area. Check out the Pond Social page for details.
